If fear is keeping you or your little one from scheduling an appointment, nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a safe and effective way to calm children safely so they can tolerate treatment while they remain awake! Laughing gas can help them relax during their visit and then resume daily activities with a smile.

Laser tools use extremely focused, precise beams of light to remove tissue from the gums, tongue, and even hard tissues of the tooth itself like enamel. 98% of the time there is no need for numbing medicine, and our patients can eat or head back to school right away!
CO2 lasers are able to release soft tissue with almost zero post-op bleeding. We also use it to remove decay from the tooth itself to prepare for filing without even needing to numb! Ask us how this works! Our patients and parents love it.
Since lasers are more accurate and precise and are less invasive than traditional dental tools, this adds up to a simpler, faster, and more comfortable recovery process after your child’s procedure. Your child will have a reduced healing period and be more comfortable every step of the way.
To begin, we will have you and your child come in for a consult. There we will discuss their dental needs and if your child is a good candidate for treatment. We will create a personalized plan unique to your child’s individual needs.
If we decide that laser therapy is the best option for your kiddo, they’ll come in for treatment. Since the procedure is generally quick and painless, sedation isn’t often used. However, we often recommend laughing gas sedation to make the visit easier and more comfortable for your child. We will conduct the treatment using our Solea laser while ensuring you and your child feel comfortable through it all.
After your child’s appointment, we will give you instructions on aftercare, then send your child on their way to rest and recover. Usually, children can get back to their normal routine immediately after having teeth fixed and restored. For soft tissue procedures, sometimes a little over the counter pain relief helps. It’s important to carefully follow any post-op instructions so that your child can heal safely and properly.
We do do not charge extra to remove decay with laser vs. the standard drill or handpiece. For soft tissue procedures, we also do not add cost for laser use. So that means that you and your children benefit from our highly efficient and pain free technology. The cost of treatment will vary based on your child’s individual needs, so we recommend scheduling a consultation to get a more accurate cost estimate.
No! Laser treatments are very comfortable and convenient. Plus, in most cases, anesthesia isn’t required! Since laser dentistry does not involve physical contact with the tissue of the mouth, numbing agents aren’t usually required. The Solea CO2 laser seals off blood vessels, so there is typically very little bleeding after treatment. For decay in hard tissue, it desensitizes the tooth within the first 30 seconds of use. Some kids say it feels like biting into a popsicle! With laser dentistry, your child can quickly get back to their day-to-day routine.
Absolutely. Dental lasers are approved by the FDA and are completely safe when used by a trained dentist. Because the laser conducts such a precise procedure, there is a smaller chance of bacterial infection. This minimally invasive treatment also causes little to no bleeding for patients. When undergoing laser treatments, your dentist will take precautions to ensure your child’s safety, just as they would with any other treatment. Since laser tools emit a powerful light, we will give you and your child special protective glasses or goggles to shield your eyes. For this reason we ask that only one parent, without siblings, remains in the room with each patient at a time. Laser dentistry is safer and more comfortable than many other traditional procedures.
